BATWOMAN 3.3

RECAP  - BATWOMAN  3.3:  "Freeze"

We a quite a few things go down this week in Gotham City.  As the team is still on a quest to retrieve another Bat villain weapon, we have Alice having more hallucinations, and continue her mind games with the team, as well as Ryan laying down the truth on Jada Jet---that she is her daughter.  How did that go down?  So what chilling surprises await us?  Let's get down to it....

This week, we saw the Bat team have to deal with the threat of a Bat villain weapon with an icy past:  Victor Fries.  A canister of liquid nitrogen that Victor had used in his crimes as Mr. Freeze, and to help his wife Nora had gotten into the hands of some kids, where a bus was frozen, and the news picked it up.  Luke then fills Mary and Ryan on Mr. Freeze, his crimes, and the fact that his wife, Nora, was put in cryogenic sleep to slow down the progression of MacGregor's Syndrome until he found a cure.  Not too long ago, they did find a cure, and released her from her cryogenic sleep.  But being in suspended animation for 20 years was a shock to Nora, as her husband had long been dead.  She was put into Arkham, but she escaped not long ago, and has been in hiding ever since.  They trace the canister's whereabouts to the GCPD.  Once Batwoman gets there, however, it turns out that the canister is missing.  It was stolen by a woman named Dee.

When we meet Dee, we see her meet up with an older woman, who turns out to be Nora Fries herself.  It turns out she's aged rapidly since coming out of her cryogenic sleep.  She's not doing well, healthwise, and the only way it seems to save her is to put her BACK into the cryogenic chamber.  That chamber, as Luke informs Batwoman, is at a place called Ace Chemicals.  While Nora and Dee talk about Victor and the nitrogen, a gang breaks into their abode and kidnaps them.  This group takes them hostage to Ace Chemicals, where the leader of the gang wants the women to tell them how Fries' cryogenic chamber works.  Nora says the chamber doesn't work without the liquid nitrogen.  Batwoman arrives, and manages to fight off some of the gang, and get Nora to escape, and tells her to go to Dr. Hamilton.  Batwoman falls to the numbers game, as she's conked out from behind.  When she awakes, she's in the cryo chamber, and the gang wants to see it work---their benefactor wants to know the chamber is in working order---so they're going to use it on Batwoman.  Dee says that without the liquid nitrogen canister, Batwoman will die.  That's fine with the gang leader.....if Batwoman doesn't die...Dee will.

Luke notices that Batwoman's going into hypothermia as the chamber continues to drop in temp, and the Scarlet Crusader is fading fast.  She needs Luke to suit up to save Dee, and he's off. Now...Sophie does show up at the cave to try and save Batwoman, as she slowly starts to fall asleep and the hypothermia begins to take over.  Sophie does what she can to keep Batwoman awake by feining anger towards her for not confiding in her about meeting Jada, and confessing she was her daughter....and she did the dirty work to find her, and didn't confide in her.  The tactic works, as Batwing invades the plant, and manages to take down some of the gang members, and rescue Batwoman.  Once Batwoman recovers, her and Batwing are chasing down the gang, who has Dee.  As the gang tries to make their escape, the gangleader uses a bomb to blow up part of the bridge.  Using part of the liquid nitrogen canister to freeze part of the bridge to give the Batmobile something to drive on.  Batwoman makes it across, and the gang eventually tosses Dee, but keeps Victor's notes, and takes off.

While Batwoman was in a deep freeze and Batwing and Sophie were trying to rescue her, Alice was up to her usual games, this time focusing on her step-sister.  Alice fakes being sick, and Mary does give her a checkup...which turns up nothing.  Alice says she notices that Mary looks at Luke, and Mary tries to play it off, but Alice has eyes.  She also begins to toy with Mary's insecurities, saying that she should know her role on the team:  she's only noticed when they actually NEED her.  Alice also wanted Mary to get the nanobots out of her system, but Mary can't.  All Alice wants to do is be free.  She takes Nora at knife point, and Nora wants her to kill her.  Nora says that she woke up 20 years later, and started aging rapidly...and she doesn't have much time left.  She's tired, and is ready to die.  Alice doesn't find the fun in it, and storms off.  Nora says she can understand Alice's plight----trapped with seemingly no escape...and that's all she wants to do.

Ryan's day also began with a meeting between her and her mother, Jada Jet.  At first, she was impressed with Ryan, but finding out she's the daughter she gave up makes Jada upset, and doesn't want anything to do with her.  The tension between the two gets eased when Marquis Jet arrives and introduces himself.  Jada introduces him as her son.  And she makes it clear that if Ryan crosses her path again, it'll get ugly.  Later on, Marquis pays a visit to Ryan, and wants to get to know his sister...and feels that his mother doesn't appreciate his business acumen, and believes that he and Ryan should team up against dear old Mom and show her what they're worth.  Ryan says she'd think about it.  When she later talks to Sophie about it, she says that as much as she wants a family....the team comes first.

Once the mission was accomplished, Mary fesses up to Ryan that Luke disabled the safety measures on the suit---because he isn't over the shooting psychologically.  Ryan wants Luke to tell her if he's fine---he says he is, and Ryan says that she needs Luke in the field until they get the rest of the weapons.  Mary feels like she's not being heard and walks off.  Mary tries to apologize, but Luke isn't happy with her.

Alice is once again sent back to Arkham, where her frears of the nanobots in her body are crawling about, and she can see and feel them are driving her even more paranoid.

Mary gives Nora some medication to help ease her pain, and make her more comfortable for whatever time she has left.  Dee doesn't want her to die, but Nora says she's been doing that for awhile.  She just wants to spend time with her sister with what time she has left.  Mary says Batwoman ensured that no one is looking for them.  Mary then walks off, but turns back to look at them once again, until  a certain vine crawls into the park from the bushes, grabs Mary by the feet, and drags her back into the bushes.

This was a pretty good episode.  I still was amazed at the fact they went the early route to have Ryan tell Jada she's her daughter.  Now, the animosity between Jada and the child she abandoned gets more tense.  And as for Marqius----sure, he's a bit of a sweet talker, but we know he's trying to play ALL the angles....but I have no doubt he's still loyal to Mommy Dearest.  We'll see how much Jada decides to start going after Wayne Enterprises, and teach her daughter a "lesson".  And I feel Marqius is the key.

Alice seems more paranoid that usual...as the nanobots in her system are making her even crazier, and she may NOT be hallucinating as much as we think she is.  But we'll have to see how THAT develops down the road.  But we also know she's continuing to be the same Alice we know her to be:  maipulative, crafty, and sadistic.  This time, she picks on her dear old sister...knowing she's the easy mark.  While Mary is a legit doctor, and the doctor on the Bat Team...just what exactly IS her role on that team?  What does she contribute, and how much of her actual input is valued?  It's these doubts that Alice implants in Mary's head, that will cast some doubt as to her own value on the team.  And now with Ivy's vine having captured her...is Pamela Isley not far behind?

And it looks like Sophie and Ryan are garnering some chemistry.  They've seem to have gotten over their earlier hangups, and have found a good working relationship...but is there room for more?  Batwing comments on the banter that Ryan and Sophie have with each other, and he wonders whether or not Ryan is flirting with her?  Neither of them really admit to anything, and Sophie tries to keep them on mission...but it looks like Sophie has begun to earn more of Sophie's trust and vice versa.  It will be interesting to see what happens between these two going forward.

As for Nora Fries---we get to see something of a bittersweet ending for her---as her time on this world is cut short because of MacGregor's Syndrome, she just wants to die.  She has accepted her fate, as much as her sister Dee doesn't want it.  She just wants to be free of this life of strife and pain---and get away from the confinement she was in for 20 years, and her subsequen lockup in Arkham.

All in all...what did YOU out there think of this installment?  Subscribe and leave your comments and theories below.

Until next time....the Signal is OFF.

DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW 7.3

RECAP - DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW  7.3:  "wvrdr_100_error not found"

As the rest of the Legends are en route to New York to meet up with Dr. Gwyn Davies---Astra, Spooner, and a human-esque Gideon are on their trail to catch up to them before they meet the good doctor, and their lives get put at stake.  But along the way...in typical Legends fashion...they hit a snag, and we take a detour through Gideon's mind in order to get her straightened out.  Meanwhile, in the future (but not current time), Bishop is prepared to give his keynote speech, but he keeps having this nasty flashbacks of incidents involving the Legends.  So, what did we see in Gideon's mind?  Let's take that journey, and see what happened.

As the trio start their trek to finding their teammates, things go south quickly, as they come across a farm, and notice...of all things...a pie.  Spooner and Astra argue about getting it, and Gideon is forced to make a decision, but it causes her to pass out.  So, in a sense, Gideon has "shut down", and is in serious need of a reboot.  So, Spooner asks Astra if there's a spell she can cast to get into Gideon's mind, and wake her up, so that they can get going.  So, the spell is cast, and they wind up in her mind, where they meet our old friend Jax....complete with British accent (the actor's ACTUAL accent, BTW), and he talks about how Gideon needs to have her memories recovered before they are lost forever, because there's a virus that's in there disrupting things, and they need to save Gideon's memories before she's lost forever.  So, Jax helps get them to the first memory, which is when Spooner was taken aboard the Waverider, and the trio see Gideon interact with Ava to gain that memory back.  Having succeeded, they work towards the next memory and so on, because these memories were important to her---it's what made her who she is.

While Astra and Spooner help Gideon reclaim her long-term memory, we check in on Bishop who is ready for his keynote speech, but is starting to have flashbacks of when the Legends plucked him out of his time period, and he recalls the aliens that tried to attack him.  He's also got this hard drive that he's had trouble accessing.  And it's driving him crazy throughout the episode.  And you can say this about him....he's persistent.  But as the episode lingers on, he starts getting his recall back, and finally realizes what he has.

As Ava's memory of using Spooner to help find Sara last year, it taught Gideon love or logic.  We see more of Gideon's memories, as she remembers all of the old teammates at various points in her memory, of which Spooner and Astra are audience to.  We see Prof. Martin Stein, Hawkman, Captain Cold, Atom, and even Rip Hunter.  The virus, however, is trying to work overtime to erase these memories, and get Gideon back to her factory resets---accomplish the mission:  protecting the timeline at all costs.  She pilots the "ship" through her memories.  The virus is still working it's way through her memories, and uses the early memory of Rip Hunter to capture Gideon.  The virus says it's not the bad guy....the Legends are.  They changed her programming.  We then see the virus show Gideon memories of Rip changing her programming to protect the Legends, and then have her show various memories of when some of the Legends die or get hurt, and Gideon could do nothing to help or stop them.  The virus says that if she allows it to take over, they can fix everything, and continue on with the original programming.  Gideon was corrupted by the Legends.

Bishop manages to hack the hard drive, and we see that it is Gideon.  He realizes what he has, and plans on making the Legends pay for wiping his memories, by resetting Gideon's programming back to the factory settings.  And as much as she tries to resist, Bishop then begins on working on Gideon's reset.  Back in Gideon's mind, Jax and the girls manage to find the virus is in Gideon's subconscious, and now the ladies have to fight through the corrupted memories of Gideons...which are the members of the team---new and old---and Spooner's gun blasts them, thus restoring the memories to normal.  They manage to find Gideon, and they escape.  The virus says that they will not care for her, but she will.  Gideon doesn't want to be human, but Astra and Spooner show her all the fun times that the team had, where they involved her in.  They tell her that life is hard, and there's always going to be bad times....but there's also a lot of good times to be shared as well...it's what makes it all worth it, and Sara is the one that welcomes her to the team as an "official" Legend.  Gideon then goes and faces the virus...and says that she won't destroy her---they're going to co-exist...but SHE is in charge.  So, they merge, and Gideon wakes up, having been "reset", and she and the ladies continue on their journey.

Bishop has finally manage to hack into Gideon's hard drive, and now plans on destroying the Legends, as her rest has no been complete by him.

This episode was the 100th episode of the series, and was wonderfully directed by Caity Lotz.  It was so cool to be able to do a profile, of sorts, on Gideon, and finally get around to making her OFFICIALLY a Legend---something that---I think we can ALL agree---she has been the lynchpin of this team since its inception.  But to be able to tap into her memories...and see her access memories, bringing back some members of the old team through the years, gave us a nice touch of nostalgia, and gave us some feels, as well as honored the show through it's 100 episode run.  But Mary Louise Pemberton has been our vision of Gideon that we've been used to all these years, and not so much the original version that was created by Barry Allen.  HIS version (complete with American accent), is still functional on his show, but I'm curious as when she went from being Barry Allen's creation, to the Waverider's A.I. on Legends.  I'd like to hear that story.

My ONE BIG disappointment about this episode----Bishop.  Look...we JUST GOT DONE with this guy LAST SEASON, so he's still fresh in our heads....but they're bringing him back to be a continued thorn in the side of the Legends.  I just don't get what is so special about him.  We got what we got from him last season, and quite frankly, I really wasn't interested in seeing him again....but here we are.  And, well, after seeing him and what he did to Gideon in HIS timeline....we now have a pretty damn good idea as to who blew up the Waverider, trapping the team in 1925.  Because, if it's ONE THING Bishop can care LESS about---it's the timeline.  So, now that THAT predictable scenario seems to have been laid out, it's taken out A LOT of the luster of this season for me....because this is going to drag out through this season...which is only 13 episodes for this year. But I just was hoping for something different....and while I'm interested in seeing this new character Matt Ryan is playing, I'm just burnt out on Bishop.  The guy was annoying the first time around...and not in a good way...and he's even MORE insufferable now.  It's the one letdown  I already have this season.

What about all of you?  How did YOU feel about this 100th installment of our time travelling heroes?  Did you get some waves of nostalgia?  Do you like this current direction with Gideon?  Are you as annoyed as hell that Bishop is back like I am?  Subscribe and lemme know YOUR thoughts below.

Until then....time is on our side.

SUPERGIRL 6.17

RECAP - SUPERGIRL  6.17:  "I Believe In A Thing Called Love"

We got a look at Nyxly's surprise benefactor last week, when we got the return of Lex Luthor to the canvas, as the Girl of Steel hasn't had enough problems dealing with Nyxly as it is, but now throwing in Lex just exacerbates the problem.  So, with 4 totems left to obtain, the Superfriends now have to work overtime to locate them, and beat Nyxly to the punch.  We're a few episodes away from the end, so let's see what transpired this week...

It was all about love this week.  The love totem was what everyone was after, and Lex offers his services to Nyxly to help her achieve it, but she's apprehensive about him, because she feels she can get it herself.  Because of his time in the future, Lex feels that his insight would be beneficial to her, but she blows him off, citing the fact she doesn't trust him. Lex expresses his feelings towards Nyxly to Otis, who's been standing in Lex's stead since he left for the future.  Lex actually admits his feelings to Otis in regards to Nyxly.  He admits that no one in his life has been his equal as Nyxly was...and that's how he fell in love with her.

As for things on the Superfriends' side---Alex and Esme are trying to plan an engagement party for her and Kelly, to celebrate the moment they both fell in love with each other.  It's also a plan for Alex to finally propose to Kelly as well.  However, the bar she booked for the event has already been booked, and she's heartbroken about it.  Meanwhile, Supergirl has a plan to draw Nyxly out by using Lena's magic to create an artificial love totem, and place a trap for her.  The trap works, and they fight Nyxly, and they have her captured and ready to be contained, but Lex arrives, blasts everyone with a Kryptonite beam, thus knocking the Girl of Steel out of the fight, and they make good their escape.  Nyxly wonders how Lex knew where she was, and she ends up seeing his microscopic drone.  He does manage to convince her that they were quite a team in the future.  She got her revenge and more.  But what Lex did NOT tell her, and only told Otis---that she died in the future, and he is there to prevent it.

Brainy is distraught because Lex used 31st Century tech against them, and if the can adapt that for Nyxly, they'll be unstoppable.  He can contact the Legion, but fears doing so for changing the timeline, and destroying the space/time continuum.  Nia encourages Briany to contact them, because times are desperate.  He still feels that using the actual totems would be more effective, but Supergirl feels there's a huge risk.  So, they try to work on an artificial energy source.  J'onn then offers to take the gauntlet test instead of Kara, because he knows the moment when he faced his worst fear.  So, into his memories he goes, and endures the pain of losing his family....but he passes the test.  They now have another totem to use against Nyxly and Lex.  Both Nyxly and Lex have discovered where the love totem is, as have the Superfriends:  Portugal.  Both sides race to the totem, and a fight ensues.  Supergirl is in her battlesuit, but she gets blasted by Nyxly, and her nightmares about Phantom Zone Phantoms freeze her in place, and she's helpless.  As J'onn and the others try to use the totems to take out Nyxly and Lex,, she goes for the love totem, but it disappears.  Mitch manages to beam Lex and Nyxly out before anymore damage is done.  However, it looks as though the love totem has been destroyed by turning black, and J'onn couldn't help it.  Lex is chided by Nyxly for not grabbing the totem before saving her.  She's never had anyone sacrifice for her before.  Not only has he been able to heal her, but help protect her crystal ball.  Lex finally expresses to her about how he feels.  He says that no one has ever been his equal except her.  She begins to see the potential of their alliance, and be friends.

Alex tells Kelly she's bummed she couldn't book the bar, but it turns out Kelly did.  Too bad they couldn't have their surprise there, but Kelly understands, she's just happy she's with Alex.  Alex then finally proposes to Kelly, and she says yes.  So, as the team celebrates, Brainy is concerned about Lex's behavior, and Nia tells him to trust his instincts...find out what the Legion knows...anything that can help will be beneficial at this point.

Andrea finds out that Lex is involved with Nyxly, and wants William to get the story to put them back on top, and William says he will write the story his way, and get the facts...not sensationalize it.  Andrea gives him until midnight to provide the facts, but he fails to meet her deadline, so she goes into business for herself, suiting up in her shadow suit, and going into Lex's office...finding a notebook of his with some interesting info.  We then see William meeting up with his secret source---Otis Graves.

As the team continues to celebrate, and Lex and Nyxly wonder about the love totem, Lex says the power flows into something else...and reconstitutes.  They'll find the totem, and possess it.  What we see at the end of the episode is Alex and Kelly reading with Esme...as the love totem power has now flowed into the little girl.

Well, things have gotten a tad more predictable with Lex on the scene, but it is interesting to see him smitten with Nyxly, and go out of his way for her.  But as things wind down for this show, we're going to see a mad dash for the other totems, which I believe Nyxly will get with Lex's help.  And we'll have that point where all looks lost.  But with this love totem, we know that Lex and Nyxly will find a way to nab Esme, and use her to stop the Superfriends, thus putting Alex and Kelly in a panic.  As for Kara....she has GOT to move past the Phantom nightmare stuff....it's gotten to be too much.

I wonder if we'll get ANY appearances from Winn, Mon-El, or the rest of the Legion when Brainy does contact them?  It would be nice to get an appearance from THEM before the show signs off. And are they serious in the fact that OTIS is William's source?  How crazy is that?  Is Otis smarter than he lets on?  And as for Andrea...just what did she find in Lex's office when it comes to that notebook?  So, we have a couple more mysteries coming up before it's over, so we'll see how all THIS plays out.

What're YOUR thoughts on this episode?  Drop me a comment and lemme know.

Until next time...up, up, and away!

STARGIRL 2.12

RECAP - STARGIRL  2.12:  "Summer School - Chapter Twelve"

In the penultimate episode of this second season of Stargirl, we see everyone coping with what happened, and coming together to see what they can do about stopping Eclipso, as he gets prepared to make HIS grandstand play.  Mike finds the new wielder of the Thunderbolt, and Courtney makes an attempt to rally the troops to face Eclipso one last time---with an uneasy ally:  Cindy Burman.

The Dugans return home with Dr. McNider, as the dog has destroyed the house, and a few hours earlier, Jenny and Beth were at the school cafeteria, tracking the other source of The Shade, and manage to find a piece of what was left of Eclipso.  Jenny destroyed it, and she wonders about it, as Beth gets a call from Courtney, letting her know that they're back home, and they're safe.  As Jenny and Beth arrive at the Dugan home, they find they have company:  Cindy Burman, whom Courtney rescued from the Shadowlands....and Beth finally gets to meet the actual Dr. McNider face to face.  Previously, Dr. McNider and Pat discussed how Eclipso could be defeated, and McNider asks Pat what destroys darkness, and Pat says the light---of which Courtney and her friends have---but Pat isn't sure the kids are ready.  McNider believes Beth is.

Cindy and Courtney still bicker over who's to blame for the whole situation with Eclipso, and Barbara says that enough is enough.  Cindy does offer a truce for now in order to stop Eclipso.  But she warns them that they're going to have to get tough.  Evil is relative...and Courtney may think that Cindy is right---at least for THIS scenario.  As Pat and Beth team up to find ways to stop Eclipso, they all wonder where Mike is...and Pat says he's out chasing the Thunderbolt.  Mike has traced the trail of the Thunderbolt to a young man named Jakeem Williamson.  Mike wonders what Jakeem has been doing, and Jakeem was just wishing for food, and it happened.  But he got out of control, and then the Thunderbolt took off.  He doesn't know where he went, and Mike let's him know there's a responsibility to having the Thunderbolt, and Jakeem wonders how it ended up with him....all he wanted was a friend because he's been alone.  So, Mike sticks with him until the Thunderbolt comes back...they need him to save the world.

Jenny has been restless, and Barb looks in on her, and tells her to rest after using her powers.  But Jenny ends up having nightmares throughout the episode, imagining Eclipso having killed all her friends.  Pat goes to see if he can get Rick released from jail, and he goes about that task by talking to Rick's uncle.  He tries to plead Rick's case to his uncle, but his uncle won't have it, and tells Pat to go screw himself.  Pat then says that Rick's uncle was supposed to protect and care for Rick....but he didn't do any such thing.  Pat says that he knows what kind of man Rick's uncle is....and he's NOT a nice guy.  Pat tells him that he remembers his military days, and knows a thing or two about having darkness within him...as he draws the shades to Rick's uncle's hospital room...as Rick's uncle starts to panic.  We later see Rick being released, and he wonders how, and Pat says his uncle dropped the charges, when Rick asks how...Pat feins indifference.  They take off, because they need Rick to help battle Eclipso.

Courtney knows they need Yolanda, but Yolanda doesn't want any part of it.  Courtney tells her what really happened with the original JSA and Bruce Gordon, but it doesn't mean anything to Yolanda...it doesn't make it better.  It just means that the Wildcat suit was worn by killers, and she doesn't want a part of it anymore.  Cindy observes the entire interaction, and later shows up at Yolanda's, and tells her to stay retired, they don't need weaklings.  Cindy tells her that she's working with Courtney in order to stop Eclipso, and Yolanda doesn't trust her.  Cindy goads her, and Yolanda threatens her if she harms her friends.  That's what Cindy was looking for.  She told her the truth about the day of Yolanda's acceptance speech:  it wasn't Henry that sent them....it was Cindy.

Courtney and Barbara talk, and Courtney tells her about the memory she had in the Shadowlands.  She asks her mother if it was hard raising her alone---which Barbara says it was...but she wouldn't have given up anything in regards to Courtney.  They hug it out, and Yolanda shows up.  She's not happy that she's willing to work with Cindy, but she feels that Cindy won't turn on them to side with Eclipso after what he did to her.  But Yolanda says she's back for one reason only:  to stop Eclipso.  Once this is over---she's done.  Courtney understands.  Cindy does talk to Courtney, and says she's going to have to learn to be bad to defeat evil.  As everyone prepares for the fight ahead, Cindy places a call, and tells whomever is on the other side, they need to get back to Blue Valley.

Dr. McNider and Beth make their way into the ISA HQ and look for the mainframe, when they're met by little Bruce Gordon.  He says he's set everything up, and lured the duo there because he wants the darkness of Courtney Whitmore----because once he has that----he'll be able to ascend to godhood.  Jenny's last nightmare is that of Stargirl possessed by Eclipso.

Well...we certainly have things set up for QUITE the season finale.  And we have some questions to answer before it's all said and done.  First and foremost:  what is so special about Courtney, that Bruce NEEDS her darkness in order to complete his rise to godhood?  Is it that SHE is the one who has stood her ground against him, and defied him by NOT giving into her darkness, and therefore, he won't be complete until he's taken ALL the light from everyone?  We see that Jenny is struggling in her nightmares with the potential outcome of this battle, as she sees everyone die...and sees Stargirl as possessed as Eclipso.  We also know that Cindy played HER cards well to entice Yolanda back into the fight by FINALLY admitting that SHE was the one behind Yolanda's downfall....not Henry.  And we wonder just WHOM she was calling on the phone to get back to Blue Valley...Artemis?  All we know is that she's going to bring extra muscle for the fight...but make no mistake:  she's still out to get the new JSA.

We got to see Pat's dark side tonight, in his efforts to help get Rick released---by showing Rick's uncle the kind of bad HE can be.  And Courtney made some amends with her mom, and Barbara validated her love for Courtney.  We finally got a Yolanda sighting, and she's drawn back into the hero world, much to her dismay, but she's there to defeat Eclipso, and protect Courtney and her friends from Cindy.  As for Mike....he stepped up in giving the speech to Jakeem about the responsibility to the Thunderbolt.  And it also looks like that they could become friends down the road.  It was also great to see the original Dr. Mid-Nite meet Beth.  That was a great moment.  Oh, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that The Shade is still around---Barbara could feel his presence, as we saw his shadow on the wall.  He's not gone completely.

Well....what did YOU all think of this week's show?  Are you ready for the season finale?  It's been an interesting journey, and we'll see how our team finds it's way through the darkness....and will there BE a team after this?  Lemme know what ALL of you think by subscribing and leaving a comment below.

Until next week....keep your eyes on the stars.

BATWOMAN 3.2

RECAP - BATWOMAN  3.2:  "Loose Tooth"

The Quest for the Bat Villains' Arsenal is well underway, as Renee Montoya has now ORDERED Batwoman to work with Alice in order to obtain the remaining weapons of Batman's infamous rogues weapons before they fall into the hands of some undesirables, and they get a whole new reign of terror in Gotham City.  Luke continues to work on his Batwing suit to get IT working properly.  And finally, we have Ryan coming face to face with Jada Jet....the woman who abandoned her.

This week's villain just happened to inherit the mutative qualities of Killer Croc, as this new mutant lizard was stalking his prey by nabbing a couple of kids for a late night snack at a pool where they were there illegally.  And, in order to track this creature down, Montoya has mandated Alice to supervised custody...meaning, essentially, that Batwoman gets to babysit her, and have her as a partner.  And as much as the Scarlet Knight hates it.  Montoya continues to threaten Batwoman with having her hang up her cowl if she doesn't comply.  She wants these weapons and monsters off the streets before they start getting a higher body count.

Luke then delivers the 4-1-1 to the team about the original Killer Croc - Waylon Jones.  In his last battle with Batman, the GCPD got involved, dropped thermite in the sewers, and all that was left was a tooth.  Whomever has it now...got infected with Jones' disease, and has now inherited the abilities of Croc.  Things get interrupted when Jada Jet arrives in her helicopter on top of Wayne Tower, looking for a meeting with the acting CEO of the company....which turns out to be Ryan, as agreed upon by Kate.  So, the head of Jeterian Industries meets the acting CEO of Wayne Enterprises.  Ryan is nervous to meet her birth mother, but Sophie told her before the meeting that she's got it.  She's strong and powerful....and this woman abandoned her.  They discuss the illegal breach into Jetarian's systems (which we know it was Sophie's hack job), and Jada makes it know she will NOT take espionage lightly.  Ryan holds up her end, and says that there's no interest in it, and wants her helicopter off the roof.  Jada leaves, warning Ryan, but impressed at her poise.

Luke's been busting his behind trying to figure out how to get the suit from shutting down in critical moments.  It senses when he is hurt, that's when it shuts down.  So, he took the safety measure out, and part of that was the AI that was his dad.  Mary suggests that maybe she should give him a checkup, make sure everything is fine.

Alice continues to taunt Ryan about her mother, while they're trying to figure out the new Croc's next move.  Ryan isn't interested in playing this game, and Alice says that since he's a new predator, he's saving his victims for when he's hungry.  We turn to a gal in the forest looking for a soccer ball she lost in the woods, and when she goes to find it, she hears rustling, and then is quickly snatched from the scene, as we see the deflated soccer ball left behind.  As Alice and Batwoman are on the way, and they talk about mothers, and Ryan knows that all Alice is doing is plotting her escape, and will run the first chance she gets.  Alice says that she's there to help the girl, and won't let her get abandoned like she did.  They head into the sewers after seeing the soccer ball, and then head into the sewers to try and find the girl.  They come across a whole bunch of slabs of meat, and Alice realizes that someone is setting a trap for their reptilian prey.  Then, an older man comes out, and he says he's Croc's father.  He explains about how his son Steven was on a fishing trip, caught a fish, and found a tooth in it.  Then, Steven cut himself on the tooth, and the blood on it mixed into his system, and made him change.  He feels he needs to help him, and Batwoman promises to get him some help, but the father doesn't feel that her "help" is all that good, considering it would mean locking him up.  He then takes out an electric cattle prod and zaps Batwoman with it, and she falls down.  He continues zapping the water around her, hurting her more.  Sophie's running the coms at the Batcave, and notices that he's hurt.  Just then, Croc appears, and takes his dad, and his dad drops the cattle prod.  Alice picks it up, zaps the tracker bracelet on her ankle, removes it, and makes her escape.  She then hears the cries for help from the girl and finds her....only to tell her to get out of there on her own.  The girl can't, because her ankle is broken, but Alice says that no one's going to come get her, and to get out on her own.  Alice then bolts...but hears Croc coming.  As Croc shows up to nab the girl, Batwoman recovers and attacks Croc.  They fight for a bit, and Batwoman manages to trap him in a bat-net.  With him neutralized, she managest to rescue the girl.

In Alices attempt to flee, she meets up with Batwing.  They fight a little, and she goads him a bit, and he injects her with a concoction.  She wonders what it's supposed to to do, since she feels nothiing.  But Batwing says that he injected her with thousands of nanobites...there's nowhere on the planet she can run where they won't find her.  In the aftermath, Batwoman and Montoya talk, and Montoya wonders how Batwoman let Alice run, but then she sees that Alice is captured an in the Batmobile.  Batwoman gives Montoya the ankle bracelet, and then takes off.  We then see Alice escorted back to Arkham Asylum, as we get the recap from Vesper Fairchild.

In the wake of his checkup from Mary...which included them having some awkward sexual tension...she says that he's physically fine...but maybe he needs to put the safety measure back in.  Because while he may be PHYSICALLY fine...maybe not MENTALLY from his gunshot wound.  Ryan and Sophie talk about her mom some more, and Ryan wonders how someone can cough up 2 million dollars to cover up a pregnancy.  Sophie says that if Jada can't see how great Ryan turned out, it's her loss.  Ryan then takes the initiative to walk into Jada's office unannounced, and confronts her, and tells her that she is her daughter.

Montoya's at her office, and she and her subordinate look to open up the canister with Poison Ivy's vine.  Montoya opens it, and then pours water on it, wondering what will happen.  But nothing does...it's just a dead vine.  So...she knows that Ivy's vine is still out there.

Not a bad episode.  We knew that a lot of the Bat Team's quests were going to be one episode deals, as they get the villian weapons back, but there are some other stories starting to develop.  First and foremost:  Jada and Ryan.  Mother and daughter finally had their face off, and Jada was impressed by Ryan.  But there's obvious tension, as Jada is all about business.  And doesn't want any industrial espionage going on.  When Ryan decides to come out and tell her that she's her daughter....I was quite surprised.  I was thinking they'd hold off on that for a little bit, build up more tension, then drop the bomb.  But instead, they went this route, and next episode will see Ryan meet her brother.  So, I am thinking that this little revelation will NOT go over well with Jada, who may try to deny it, and then we'll see how little brother faces up against her.  But we're going to see a huge confrontation between mother and daughter soon enough.

Mary has looked a little lost in the shuffle since this season started.  Aside from getting her MD license, she's not really been a part of the team much.  She hasn't really offered anything much, either.  But it also seems like there's some SERIOUS sexual tension brewing between her and Luke, juding from the looks they were giving each other, and how she just ogled his body.  We'll see where they go with THIS story.

With Alice  back in Arkham, I wonder if her little deal with Montoya is done, since she tried to run.  Of course, Luke was extremely smart and injected the nanobites in her system, and even if she DOES escape, she'll have nowhere to go on the planet where they couldn't find her.  So, I'm curious as to what more to this season she can contribute, and what more to her story there actually is to tell.

As for Montoya...she's playing everything straight-laced, and very by-the-book as Jim Gordon did.  I do kind of wonder if we'll get to see more of Renee's personal life outside of the job...and I also wonder if we'll ever get to see her meet Vic Sage, who is a crimefighter known as The Question.  It would be VERY cool to bring him into the series, but not sure they'll do that...and not sure we'll get a Season 4 yet.  But, I would like to see more of Montoya's life outside of her work.

All in all, I enjoyed the episode, as they lay the groundwork for the return of Pamely Isley, and what trouble SHE'LL bring back to Gotham.  What about all of YOU?  Did you like what transpired on this week's episode?  Drop me a line by subscribing to the blog and leaving a comment....cheaper than a doctor bill.

Until next time....the Signal is OFF.
