DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW 7.10

RECAP - DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW  7.10:  "The Fixed Point"

The Legends are SOOOOO close to getting back home, but they still have one task left to finish:  getting Davies' boyfriend, and being able to take over the Waverider Bishop made and take out Evil Gideon and her android duplicates.  But first off, they're in 1914 Sarajevo in order to stop Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand from being assassinated, and preventing World War I.  That's a tall order, considering that his assassination is a fixed point in time, and cannot be altered.  But, the Legends' plan is simple:  As they go to stop the assassination, it will draw Evil Gideon and the android Legends to them in order to fix the timeline, and thus allowing the REAL time to get abord the Waverider, and unplug Evil Gideon.  But we all know what happens when this team has the best of intentions....and the easiest of plans.

So...as they get back to 1914, the team is met up with an old man, who urges Sara and the team to follow him.  They wind up in some place that looks like a bar, where they have several other patrons---time travellers---who've also had the same idea---to stop the assassination, and change time.  Everyone is well aware of the Legends, are they are mocked by some of the other time travelling patrons for being old and not being able to stop making mistakes.  The team watches failed attempt after failed attempt, as they all got tickets to get THEIR chance to stop the assassination.  So...when it comes to Sara's turn, she doesn't get far before she fails in HER attempt.  Laughed at, she gets to try again, but she fails a second time....and a third time.  The old man who owns the bar says that time has always defeated anyone looking to try and change a fixed point.

Going back over the film, the team realizes that everyone that's made an attempt---Sara included---has been stopped by some individual who's shown up and then disappeared off the film.  They realize that this person is the one stopping all the attempts to change time.  So, they head back to the mansion in the pocket world to see if they could borrow a part off of Davies' time machine, but he feels they can't.  That this is God's way of punishing him AND everyone else for him trying to get his boyfriend out of time.  Ava tries to reassure Davies that he's allowed to be happy, but he begs to differ.  While he'll be happy to save the man he loves, he feels it is his fate to suffer and not be allowed to enjoy his love because it's unacceptable.  But, Sara and him convince him that this can work.  So, they build this device to allow Sara to slow down time, and find a way to stop the assassination.

Once she gets the device, the young time travellers give her their tickets, because they believe in her.  As she gets back to the assassination, she gets towards the last guy, when she's stopped by none other than Eobard Thawne.  The two fight, and he's without his speed.  She and Thawne then decide to stop and talk about how he ended up there.  Thawne says that after the Black Flash caught him....he was stripped of his speed and changed...re-educated.  And he was sent to this point to protect the timeline at all costs.  Sara pleads with him that she is trying to save time, but needs to disrupt it, in order to get the evil versions of themselves to THIS time, and be able to sneak aboard the Waverider, and take it back, thus being able to fix tings, and put  it all right.  Eobard agrees, and says he'll grant her 40 minutes to get what she needs done, but if she's one minute over---SHE has to take over for him and protect this Fixed Point in time.  She agrees, and he let's things happen.  And with the assassination stopped, they now know the Evil Gideon and her androids are on their way...as their final battle is about to begin.

Pretty straightforward episode, with an interesting plot twist, in that the protector of the Fixed Point is none other than Thawne himself.  Also interesting that for the Legends' version of him, it's actor Ted Letscher instead of Tom Cavanaugh in the role.  I am also not sure which version of him this is, as time is now in some sense of flux (and I wonder how much of THAT will play into Bart & Nora's story in The Flash when IT returns), but THIS Thawne is also powerless, and the watch he has is what keeps him in that Fixed Point.  This also seems like the one plan they've got to finally get a Waverider again, as well as stopping Evil Gideon before she gets worse.  But as the season is drawing to a close, we can't help but feel this final battle is going to be something of a mess, and it might keep Sara trapped in 1914 forever.  We also find out there's some kind of space in-between time, or just outside of it, where time travellers convene to watch others change history.  Something Gideon wasn't privvy to, but is now.  And we know the Legends' rep precedes them, but not always in the good way, as they were mocked by younger time travellers during the episode.  But everyone comes around, when they see that Sara doesn't give up, and she gets farther than anyone else has.  We also see some tiny character development, as Zari and Spooner hang out more, and we discover that Spooner is asexual.  But their spotting Thawne in the film allowed Sara to come up with a new plan, so the team did their jobs this week.

This episode wasn't bad, and it sets the stage for the big fight coming up.  But can our team stop their android counterparts before it's too late?  Will Sara be stuck in time forever?  We're reaching the end of the season, so the stakes SHOULD be getting higher at this point.  So...how about YOU guys?  What did YOU all think of this installment?  Subscribe and leave your comments and opinions here...

Until then....time is on our side.
