DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW 6.13

RECAP - DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW  6.13:  "Silence of the Sonograms"

It appears as if Sara Lance's worst nightmare won't go away---and he's come back to cause even MORE trouble.  We find out this week just who's returned for more trouble, and it's going to now effect EVERYONE on the team.  Meanwhile, John Constantine continues to battle his own dark aspect of himself, as the dark magic continues to dominate him, and it's caused concern for Zari.  Meanwhile, Mick is getting closer to his due date with the eggs Kayla implanted into his head, and who knows what's going to happen when he gives birth.  And Ava...well...her and Sara are still trying to plan a wedding around all of this.  So, how did it all play out this week?  Let's see.....

Sara's shocked look took on a whole new life of its own this episode, as Bishop returned.  Sara had THOUGHT he was destroyed in his lab, but thanks to Kayla---looking to survive and get off the planet after being abandoned---made a pact with Bishop by downloading the last bit of data on him onto a drive, and simply installed it in Gideon when she fixed the hyperdrive.  Sara, naturally, puts him in the containment field, but the problem is....for HER anyway....he's going to play his mind games with everyone on board.  She orders Spooner to keep tabs on him, and if he gets out of line---to shoot him.  The first domino to fall, naturally, is Ava.  Ava wants a crack at trying to outwit him to see what his long term plans are.  As much as Sara isn't really FOR it, she believes in Ava enough to let her try and find out what Bishop's long term plan is.  He begins to play on Ava's emotions----especially when it comes to her indecisiveness about the wedding plans, and when it comes to family----being a clone, Ava didn't have one....a fake family.  Bishop spends this episode actually helping Ava with planning the wedding, as well as figuring out who she is---with Sara's help, of course.

While Bishop is playing puppet master to Ava, with Sara and Nate playing actual chess, thinking Ava's playing the chess game with Bishop, he's had his ear to the ground in other things....such as the issue with John.  Zari has a chat with John about stabbing the demon in the game, and found out it was him.  John hasn't been real forthcoming with her, and she's taken notice.  She goes to Astra to see what it is he's hiding, and they assume he drank from the fountain, but the only one who'd know for sure was Spooner.  So, they ask her, and she can't remember.  Zari asks Astra to cast a spell to help Spooner recall her memory, and she does.  She says the fountain cast aside John.  But then he took a bottle out and drank from it....and it helped him kill the soldiers coming after them.  So, they make a beeline for the Constantine house, and they manage to find his flask.  Astra smells the contents, and says it's blood---and John is playing with some VERY dark magic.  Zari confronts him, and says he has a choice:  her or the bottle.  She loves him, and he does her.  He says he'll kick the addiction, and locks himself away upstairs in order to ride out the craving.  He says he's never known who he was without magic.  Zari tells him that she can be herself around him.  As she leaves to get him some tea, he gets confronted with the darker part of himself...who mocks and taunts him about who he really is, and can't shake him.

On top of all of this----Mick is going  into labor with the eggs Kayla implanted in his head.  While she's bailed the ship...since they arrived back on Earth, she got HER ship, and took a powder, Gary's been helping Mick prep for childbirth.  However, there's a snag:  unless they find a way to get nutrients TO the eggs swirling about his head, they'll start to attack Mick's brain and eat it...thus killing him.  Bishop DOES offer a way to help him, with a mixture that they put in Mick's hear to help ease the pregnancy along (though Sara, with her half-alien DNA now, drinks it like a smoothie).

Sara had Gideon scan Bishop, and---as Bishop confessed---this is the last version of him available.  There was a part missing when he got regenerated, and he's 100% human.  He keeps stringing Sara and the team along, professing that he's changed his tune, and wants to get to know them, because he's never had any real friends for family...and that the one thing he's learned is humility.  It turns out to be total garbage, because he manages to override all of Gideon's orders given to her by Sara....as it turns out, he's got 6% of Sara's DNA in him....so now he has her abilities, and can think like her as well.  He takes control of the ship, and locks the halls down, just as Mick is going into labor, and they need to get him to the medbay.  Sara tries to fight him, and falls to him.  He makes his way to the medbay, and ends up delivering Mick's babies himself....through Mick's nose.  But in the process...he takes Mick's comlink.  He ends up showing everyone the healthy eggs, and Mick's hair falls out, and it looks as though HE will be back to his normal self soon.  Bishop then decides to put himself back into containment...as a "show of faith" to Sara.  Thing is...he's still playing the entire team, as he's gotten to know them, and he's now turned his focus on to John.

Meanwhile, John is back home getting thrashed about the room by his darker half.  John says he's done with it all, tosses the flask and pulls out his comlink, and is ready for anything the demon throws at him.  So, after getting beat down and tossed about more.  John finally drinks from the flask to try and battle his other self...but then we see that he is gone, with his darker self now in control, and he takes the comlink, and begins to chat with Bishop...who has plans for the both of them.  Meanwhile, Sara and Ava realize that he suckered them all, and now have a HUGE problem on their hands.

Well...we should've known Bishop wasn't QUITE done in this storyline as yet...and his annoyance has now reached a tad bit more sinister level---especially now that he's got part of Sara's DNA in him, he knows how to prey on the other members of the team.  He got Mick's comlink, and I STILL think he'll use the eggs to spawn more soldiers.  He played Ava like a fiddle, and despite her own strengths---her main weakness has ALWAYS been that she's a clone...not a real human.  And despite everything her and Sara have gone through and built...she still has those doubts, and Bishop used them to exceptional ability.  He now can access everything Sara can, and can fight as well as Sara can, so it puts her at a disadvantage...because she has to fight herself in a sense.

As for John....his issues are only getting worse.  His addiction to the blood potion given to him to get his magic back, as allowed the darker part of his personality to take over.  John has always been the one guy who walked that fine line between good and evil, light and dark, Heaven and Hell.  He's extremely flawed, and has NEVER found out the kind of person he CAN be without magic----but Zari seemed to be the one that might be able to give him a glimpse into a life without it.  He does love her.....but is that love more than the love of magic?  As for Zari---she's never felt like her REAL self until she hooked up with John.  But as I have stated before---this love CANNOT last, and WILL not last.  John Constantine is a being who can harness both good AND evil...and keep that balance.   But in that process...love, passion, romance, relationships....they are NOT for him.  This romance is doomed to fail....because it HAS to.  For John to be "normal"...he has to have magic....and he has to be that being who walks between two worlds....to keep said balance.  With the dark aspect in firm control, it's going to create havoc for the team.  THIS is where Astra REALLY needs to step up.  This is the moment that she has been preparing for.  She is going to play  a key role in getting John back to where he needs to be.

This episode, and the final two of this season, will be the best this season has produced.  This show has kind of plodded along, although the Bishop story has kinda laid in the background, and now taken full root towards the end...but now the team is faced with a dire situation, and I feel the comedy will be a bit less.  John's soul is on the line, as well their own futures, and that of the universe if Bishop continues to play mad scientist.  Just the thing Sara and Ava need before heading down the aisle.  But...what would the Legends be without a rocky road on the way to some happiness?

What did YOU all think of this week's installment?  How do you see things playing out, knowing that we're closer to the permanent departure of Constantine, and Mick's eventual departure as well?  Subscribe and leave a comment below.

Until the penultimate episode.....Time is on our side.
